A deeply personal and emotionally layered story is heading to screens soon. The trailer for Bunnylovr has been unveiled by distributor Utopia, giving audiences a first look at the indie drama that has already generated buzz on the festival circuit. The film first premiered at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, where it was featured in the main U.S. Dramatic Competition.
The project marks the feature directorial debut of filmmaker and actor Katarina Zhu, who not only wrote and directed the film but also stars in the lead role. Drawing from her own personal experiences, Zhu crafts a sensitive and intimate narrative about identity, relationships, and the search for emotional connection in a fragmented digital world.
At the center of the story is Rebecca, a drifting Chinese American cam girl played by Zhu, who finds herself entangled in an increasingly toxic relationship with one of her clients. As she struggles to maintain both emotional and physical boundaries in her online work, life throws another challenge her way — reconnecting with her estranged and terminally ill father. The unexpected reunion forces Rebecca to confront unresolved family tensions and the fleeting nature of time.
